Yes, I know I am late to the game, but I was waiting until all of the holiday festivities were over. Some of the gifts I received were coming in after the holidays were over and I also think it is essential to spend time with friends and family while people are off of work and home from school.
Before were get this show on the road, I want to mention that I am not posting this to brag about what I received. What I got for Christmas blog posts just happen to be some of my favorite posts to read, and it is fun to see what everyone else got as well. So without further ado, let’s get into this what I got for Christmas post.
This year was a year of more substantial gifts in the sense that what I asked for was on the more expensive side, so there aren’t as many items as there would have been if I was a lot younger.
#1 Herstyler 3-Piece Curling Wand
This is more of a fun gift for me because up until I was 20, I have never curled my hair or had someone curl my hair for me. Once I had tried it out, I honestly loved it. My natural hair is mostly really wavy with a few curls at the ends and because my hair was already curly I never really saw a reason to curl my hair. As it turns out, it looks so different than anything I have ever done before and its safe to say I love it!
#2 Audio-Technica Turntable
This is one of my favorite presents because I have wanted a turntable/record player for so long now and I finally have one. There is something so relaxing and beautiful about a record player because it forces you to just relax and actually listen through an album which is something a lot of us, myself included, don’t do very often. Plus, it sounds a little different than your typical album on your phone, there is just some grain and depth to it you don’t get with a phone or speakers. I also am just more of an old school girl, I love film cameras, I also love Polaroids, I really enjoy books you can actually hold, I am an avid writer in my journals and have been since I was seven or eight. I love technology, but I also like the more old-fashion sides of life.
#3 Klipsch R-15PM Speakers
There isn’t really a point of a record player if you aren’t able to hear it. So, I was very generously gifted these incredibly nice speakers to use with my record player. They are also Bluetooth which is fantastic because I love listening to music or a podcast throughout the day and in the morning especially.
#4 The Unknown Artist Painting
I don’t think I have mentioned this before, but I am also an art collector, I sound like such an old person right now. I got my record player, my books, and my art collection, don’t worry guys I’m turning the corner on a whopping 21 years old but sound like a 60 year old. Regardless, I love art, and always have. I also typically ask for gifts that will be cherished for year to come and while I don’t have a place to display my art collection currently, I still love coming home to see all of my pieces. This is my newest addition. I don’t actually know who this is by currently because of the way it was acquired, but I can already picture it hanging above or around my record player surrounded by records and vintage cameras once I have a place of my own that is larger than 350 sq ft. I think this piece is absolutely stunning and I love that the background is kind of a baby blue tone. If for some reason one of you knows who this might be by or knows someone that would, please help a girl out! It is said to be an original and I have spent days researching trying to find an artist who’s style is similar to this!
#5 The Cardigans
Alright, I admit it, I have a cardigan obsession. Cardigans are pretty much all I wear year round, and I honestly own around 20… In my defense though, they are all different colors and different styles, and so I feel like it is somewhat justified. For those of you that have read my post on The Minimalist Appeal, I am clearly still working on it, but I don’t ever think I will be able to get to the point of the die-hard minimalists you see out there. Actually, if I am honest, I will never get to that point, but I am trying to limit how much I own, and this year I am severely limiting the number of clothes I buy.
